Welcome to What’s in My Wellness Bag: Our series in which we ask cool people to metaphorically unpack their wellness bag—or what we think of as someone’s whole wellness routine. Their gym stuff, their nutrition stuff, their sleep stuff, their self-care stuff. It’s a little bit like Mary Poppins’ carpet bag. But instead of a coat rack, we found a Lululemon yoga mat, a white noise sound machine, and, naturally, Stix probiotics.
Meet Jamie

“Hi, I’m Jamie! I’m the co-founder and co-CEO of Stix, a vaginal and reproductive health brand focused on providing accessible and effective health products and sex education. At Stix, I lead all things brand, creative, and digital. I’m 29 and I live in Brooklyn, NY. When I’m not working on Stix, I’m exploring the city, at a yoga class, walking around Prospect Park on the phone with a friend, or chilling on the couch with my cat Viola.”

Lululemon The (Un) Mat Yoga Mat

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
“This yoga mat is my one and only! It’s so lightweight and I bring it with me to and from the studio, to the park as a picnic blanket, and for the occasional home exercise. It takes up no space in my apartment because it’s so thin, but it’s still comfortable for every kind of yoga flow.”
How’d you get it?
“I bought this in 2020 at Lululemon. It felt like a big splurge at the time but I have gotten so much use out of it and it still looks and performs like it’s brand new.”
Muji Notebooks

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
“I’ve kept a journal my whole life, and I love these notebooks because they’re thin and stackable. Putting pen to paper helps me process my thoughts and feelings. I always turn to journaling when I’m having a hard time.”
How’d you get it?
“I buy a few anytime I walk by a Muji here in New York! I also love their pens.”
Stix Vaginal Probiotics

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
“This is my daily probiotic! I haven’t had any problems down there since I started taking it. It also helps keep me regular and less bloated. It’s like a magic pill!”
How’d you get it?
“Stix’s website. I subscribe so it comes every two months.”
Snooz White Noise Sound Machine

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
“This little sound machine induces the most relaxing sleep ever. The white noise is really soothing, it sounds like waves crashing, and it’s not the least bit static-y like other white noise machines can be.”
How’d you get it?
“I bought it on Amazon after staying with my friend in Philly. She and her husband got it from their wedding registry and I felt so relaxed that night so I asked her for the link!”
Olly Sleep Gummies

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
I don’t know how these gummies do it or if it’s a placebo or what, but I drift off so quickly after eating them. It’s like that kind of sleep you tried to fight off as a kid but it just comes for you. If I don’t get at least 8-9 hours of sleep I feel off for a few days, so I like that these give me a guaranteed easy time falling asleep.
How’d you get it?
Another Amazon purchase. I don’t remember what inspired this purchase but I’ve been buying them consistently now for a year.
Heatwise Yoga Membership

How do you use it? Why is it wellness? I love hot yoga so much and this studio is the best. Granted, the Brooklyn location is very close to my apartment, but I really love all of their classes and feel so much more grounded and mentally sound after class.
How’d you get it? I walked by the studio when I moved here and opted for their lowest membership level. It’s 3 classes a month for $90, and then I add on class packs pretty regularly.
Zicam Rapidmelts

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
I feel kind of lame including this but I *hate* getting sick. Whenever I feel a cold coming on I start taking Zicam and I really think it helps knock it out. There’s never a good time to get sick and I really try to avoid colds like the plague.
How’d you get it?
I usually just run to my local pharmacy for it. You can find it anywhere.
Weekly Therapy

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
I really love carving out time and space to feel my feelings and process whatever’s been weighing on me. I’ve learned so much about myself and feel more well rounded and self-sufficient. I think everyone should be in therapy, if they can.
How’d you get it?
I found my therapist on Psychology Today in 2019 and I got so lucky. We hit it off immediately and she’s seen me through so much. Since we’ve met, I’ve started my business, moved 4 (!) times, and experienced many ups and downs.
UBOTIE Keyboard

How do you use it? Why is it wellness?
This keyboard provides me with a weird amount of joy. I feel happy every time I look at it (which is often because I work from home and my desk is in my bedroom). It feels and sounds so good to type on. I’m qualifying it as wellness because it definitely boosts my mood and makes work feel playful, even when it’s stressful.
How’d you get it?
I stumbled across the keyboard on Amazon and got so excited it was our Stix brand colors. I thought about it for weeks after, which is the best way to know you really want something.
Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk

How do you use it? Why is it wellness? I’ve been working from home since March 2020, and I *just* invested in a real desk. I was hunched over and uncomfortable every day for years before accepting my reality. But I finally took the plunge and spent some serious money on this desk and let me tell you — it’s made all the difference. I feel like my thoughts are more organized when I’m sitting upright with space to lay my things out. I also bought a monitor arm, and next up I need to invest in an ergonomic chair.
How’d you get it? I used Wirecutter’s review of the best standing desks and chose their second pick. It was a few hundred dollars less than their top pick, and the quality is just as great.
Real Talk by Stix

How do you use it? Why is it wellness? Real Talk is a modern, judgment-free way for people to learn about their sexual and reproductive health — we embrace everything from the commonplace to the taboo. All of the content is generated or reviewed by OB-GYNs and other experts who also believe that everyone deserves access to science-based education that will help us understand and heal our bodies without judgment. I find myself referring to it frequently in my daily life for any questions I have related to vaginal health, fertility, safe sex, and reproductive health.
